The Craft
A couple of weeks ago I glanced upon the 1996 film, The Craft. I was immediately drawn to the fact Neve Campbell was in the credits list. Still, that wasn’t going to stop me watching it :p. Ok, seriously, I didn’t actually see the credits list but whatever, it was a joke.
Anyway, the movie revolves around Sarah arriving at a new school and soon finding herself hanging around with the freak crowd. The freaks being three other girls, Bonnie, Rochelle and Nacy who are one person short of really getting their covern going.
Once Sarah is around they begin to get somewhere with their powers but getting everything you want can really come back to bite you in the ass, times three according to Wicca.
The film moves along at a decent pace although seems a bit non-targetted at times. Something is happening but is there really a point to it? Indeed the whole film seems a bit murky. Perhaps they decided they wanted to make a film about witches but didn’t really know what was going on.
That’s not to say it’s a generic un-researched brain dead piece of work which bares no relation to the material it is trying to portray, there is signs of that in that. How accurate some of the rituals shown in it are I’m not sure but certainly a basic knowledge of the subject is evident.
In conclusion, an alight film, kept me entertained and worth a watch if you have an interest in the whole area. But not something you’re really missing out on.
