I got watching The X-Files last night on DVD. It rocks, it’s one of the few shows that actually scares me. Why? Because it’s all about suspension of disbelief. Sure if I didn’t allow myself to lapse into that state it would be just as un-freightening as everything else but then it kind of voids the point of horror.

The thing that The X-Files does so well is try and wrap the unplausable incidents in a plausable wrapper. They have the balance right between weird and could this really happen for a start and the whole investigation thing just works so well.
